Breaking News: Two workers die after falling into the sea at a port in Singapore
According to foreign media reports, an accident occurred at Tuas Port in Singapore on the morning of September 22, killing two workers who fell into the sea during cargo handling operations. PSA Singapore, which operates the port, has confirmed the incident.

A PSA Singapore spokesperson said the accident occurred at about 8:40 a.m. that day, when the two workers were carrying out cargo handling operations. The two workers were found after falling into the sea. One was pronounced dead, and the other died after being taken to hospital.
The spokesperson said, “PSA is working closely with the relevant authorities, and the investigation into the accident is ongoing. We are supporting the workers’ families during this difficult time.”
Tuas Port, where the accident occurred, is Singapore’s most significant port infrastructure project in recent years. The port officially began operations in September 2022 and is being developed in four phases. It currently has 14 operating berths, a number expected to rise to 18 by 2027. When fully completed in the 2040s, Tuas Port will consolidate all of Singapore’s container port operations, expand to 66 berths, cover about 1,337 hectares, and have an annual handling capacity of 65 million TEUs—nearly double the volume handled by all Singapore ports in 2021. It will then become the world’s largest fully automated container port.
