99,000‑cubic‑meter Very Large Ethane/Ethylene Carrier Delivered Today
Today (August 18), China's domestically developed and built 99,000‑cubic‑meter Very Large Ethane/Ethylene Carrier (VLEC) was officially delivered to its user, with comprehensive technical indicators reaching internationally leading levels.

The 99,000‑cubic‑meter VLEC delivered today has an overall length of 230 meters. It is suitable for transporting various liquefied industrial gases and energy gases such as ethane, ethylene, and LPG. It features low fuel consumption and low maintenance costs, making it well‑suited for long‑haul transportation – an economical and environmentally friendly vessel.

Yuan Shizhen, chief shipbuilder for the 99,000‑cubic‑meter very large ethane carrier series at CSSC Jiangnan Shipyard, said: "This vessel is mainly designed to secure ethane transportation for domestic petrochemical enterprises. It is also equipped with a shaft generator and an ethane‑fueled main engine, which can reduce sulfur oxide emissions by 99% and hydrocarbon emissions by 18%, providing strong support for green shipping."
