In the first seven months of 2026, the Port of Los Angeles handled 6.083 million TEU of container cargo, a 1.8% increase year-on-year.

Gene Seroka, Executive Director of the Port of Los Angeles, said, "After breaking through 1 million TEU in June, the Port of Los Angeles nearly reached that level again in July."

He pointed out, "In a changing trade environment, businesses continue to move cargo when they see a window of opportunity, and resilient consumer demand is helping to keep imports at historically high levels."

He added, "We expect August to be another strong month, although some cargo has been brought forward. Looking ahead, consumer demand remains the most important variable."

He emphasized that if changes in global trade routes bring more cargo to Los Angeles, the port has the capacity and operational readiness to handle the additional volume.
